The pixelsparty.com FAQ page

What is this?

Ever been to a big party? Ever meet that interesting person, do networking that landed you a great job, or discover something fascinating? Well, that’s the concept behind PixelsParty.com!
In a nutshell, it’s like going to a party, but instead of partying and meeting people face to face, you have a pixel (well... it could be more than just 1) representing you (or your web page or myspace page or blog) online 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is social networking at its finest. It is advertising. It is a way to meet new people and discover interesting things. It is the fate of a random click. And YES, it is for real.

Why should I get a pixel?

Perhaps you have a band and are looking to spread the word about a new album. Perhaps you are a curious person who wants to meet people, or even have a great product people need to know about. These are just a few of the millions of great reasons to get a pixel!
Also, see below “What will you do when you run out of pixels?” for still yet another GREAT reason.

Does it cost anything?

Some PIXELS are FREE on page 2 (at least as I write this we have at least a few left;) ). However, like going out for a night on the town, you do have to pay to get into coolest new clubs or VIP rooms. Of course, when you buy a pixel space you get much better exposure - MUCH BETTER - and with that exposure more people will click through to your web page.
The best part is your dollar goes very far. With a range of $10 per 10 pixel by 10 pixel space and up, anyone can have a web advertising presence for 3+ years (the goal is to keep this page up indefinitely as a marker to history – like a time capsule – but we will at least have it up for 3 + years). Now that’s great advertising at a good price for a long time!

How does this work?

1. The first step is to get some pixels and upload or select an image to represent you online.
*Hint – be creative here! Perhaps use a snaking line or a crazy cube. We even allow animated .gif files – so be inventive, as that will attract the most attention.
2. The second step is to place a link back to us on your page. The reason for this is, as more people place link backs on their page, more people will come through and find your pixel and place links back on their page when they get pixels. This then increases the chance of your pixel being clicked on and helps your fellow party pixels get clicked. *FYI - For your convenience, we have a bunch of banners you can use on our “link to us” section complete with code... just copy and paste and you will be good to go! Go on, take your pick :) ) Remember, the key here is you. Yes YOU! We will all win by strength in numbers. This is a community supporting itself- you rely on the pixels next to you, and the ones next to them and so on. It takes only a second to place a link back – and it will help you for the next 3 years and beyond.
3. The last step is to sit back and let the party begin. It’s that easy.

Who are you?

My name is Tim Mack. I am a graphic artist who lives in Vermont. Basically, I’m a guy who enjoys meeting people and going to parties (who doesn't?). Being that Vermont is not the most populated state on earth, I wanted to find a way to connect to all those interesting people and things out there. Chances are good that if you’re reading this then you are one of those people too.

What will you do when you run out of pixels?

Well, first have a big party at which I will dress in giant pixel suit and party like it was 1997 :P lol... After that, my goal is to make an art project out of this page. Namely, printing out hi~quality prints of all the full grids full poster size – complete with full credits given to all of you who have bought a pixel (credit will be your web page/link that you have linked with the description supplied. It will be quite the art show – and one you’re invited to too.
Also, depending on the response – we will open up more pages with more free and buy-able pixel space. When we get to this point we have many more great ideas! SO KEEP WATCHING!

Are their any restrictions on the type of pages I can link to?

Unfortunately, there are as this is a PG-13 web page. We ask that you do not link to pornographic webpages, hate pages, or those webpages that your grandma might find really disturbing (come on – you know what I’m talking about). If we do discover these links (don t worry we will) we will deactivate your pixel space PRONTO and if we don't resolve the issue we will open your pixel back up to the public and you will lose your pixel space on the net with no refund. Sorry, but we got to keep it clean. THANKS!

Do you want to do a link exchange with me?

Chances are that is a “SURE!” But it does depend on what the page is a bit. So, send me an email and we will talk or just buy some pixel space and have a link that way :) .

I see you have a few banner spaces up on your page. Can I advertise on them?

You sure can! These places are for rent (hey, I have to pay for the bandwidth, hosting, and the web domain somehow). As such, we have both the skyscraper on the right as well as the banner on the bottom for rent. Please send me an email and we will talk turkey.

I have a TV show or publication ? do you want to appear on it? Can I mention your page?

I would love to come on your show or appear in your paper. Send me an email and let me know what it is. If it is a publication, please give credit to this web page (www.pixelsparty.com). If it is a television show, please give credit to this page as well. If you want me to, I would be available to appear on your show. Actually, I am a professional fire-spinner and would love to perform for your viewers. Again, send an email and we will talk.

My question is not answered here... what can I do?

Please send me an email. Chances are good that if you have that question, someone else does too and I don't like to leave questions unanswered. I will try to respond to it in a few days at the most (no promises on that, however ) - it might take longer depending on the number of messages I have to respond to.
